General information about Gulmi
Gulmi is a hilly district of the present 5th province which is spread over an area of ​​1149 square km. Gulmi district is full of abundant natural, cultural, historical and archeological resources, which has a lot of potential for tourism development. Which is taking a pioneering leap in the field of tourism development and is advancing in the field of action by formulating a special plan to bring in domestic and foreign tourists.

Gulmi, which has various natural and artificial tourism bases, is considered equally important from the historical, religious and archaeological point of view. The famous Rurudham area, Resunga hill, Vichitra Cave, Resunga View Tower, Arjun hill Shiddeshwar Cave, Charpala Historical Palace, Dhurkot Kot, Musikot Palace, Kankedeurali, Kaligandaki Dam are the places worth seeing in Gulmi district.

In the past years, this district has also completed several festivals with the objective of economic strengthening and maintaining the distinct identity of the district through tourism development by highlighting the potential of local and foreign tourism.In the same way, various types of development and promotion package plans are moving forward to make this district known at the national and international level, but due to the inability to formulate concrete plans for its development and promotion, the tourism development has not been able to achieve much success so far. Recently, even though there is an airport facility in the district, there has not been any change and development in other various areas required for tourism.

Resunga peak at the head of Tamghas, the headquarter of Gulmi, the view tower, Resunga Yagyashala and other places are considered to be the main tourist and religious areas of this region. Resunga Tamghas, where you can see the panoramic view of sunrise early in the morning, can be reached by walking for about one and a half hours. Recently, more than half of the way to reach Resunga, which has good transportation arrangements, can also be done by car.Whether it is a walking or a riding trip, you can see flowers like red Rhododendron in full bloom according to the season, while you can enjoy the cool air and the sweet melody of birds.

Resunga Yagyasala

Resunga, which has great potential for religious tourism, has various types of monasteries and temples. The oldest temple of Resunga is Siddasthan which is located at the peak of Resunga. At the highest peak here are Vishnupaduka and Shivalaya temple. Radhakrishna Temple, Prabhugadi and Yagnashala are located a little below top of Resunga. In this place there are Gaushala, Pakshala, Narayan Smriti Bhawan and Pravachan Griha which are situated within a beautiful garden compound.A grand fair is held in the temple at Sir on Harivodhani Ekadashi in the month of Kartik. Thousands of pilgrims go there, perform puja and bath in the pond there, and a magnificent fair is held in this area throughout the month of Shravan every year.

In this way, Resunga’s peak which attracts anyone, has also become a medium of songs for many artists. Singer Bom Bahadur Karki, who was born in Gulmi district and gained fame at the national level, says – The song I sang for the first time using Resunga as a medium was “Timi Pari Ma Bhai Wari Bichaima Cha Resunga Tagari…” This song was my gateway to Radio Nepal and The music was short.Bahadur Karki was around 2040 and until now Resunga has been the song of Santosh KC, Ramchandra Chand, Baburam Panthi, Baikunth Mahat and other artists. Through the view tower at the top of Resunga, one can see many districts and a panoramic view of the Himalayas.

Historical Significance of Resunga

Resunga is a spiritual paradise. According to legend, in ancient times, all the areas around Resunga were in the form of forests, that’s why the place was suitable for penance. At that time, it is said that the name of Yash Thau became Resunga because Rishya Shringa, the son of Bhimandaka Muni, performed penance here. After that, many sages performed penance in this place, so this place is famous as a place of penance from ancient times till today.

Later B.Sc. In 1983, when Yaduka Nanda Swami came to Resunga, the yagnashala was built. After that, the then central government emphasized on its development, the elders here say. Then in the year B.S. 2042, after Yogi Narahari Nath stayed for a month at Koti Home, the restructuring and development of Resunga progressed extensively, says Nandram Bhushal, a local social worker of Gulmi.

The Ruru-Resunga Area Conservation and Tourism Development Committee was formed by the Nepal government in B.S. 2063 to develop it in the form of religious tourism through government-planned development. Thus, it is natural for anyone who goes on a Resunga trip for the first time to take Resunga Vastam as a beautiful, picturesque and touristic place.
